THIS DOG CAN HUNT!
AKC Registered Weimaraner I've been hunting for more years than I care to mention, over a lot of dogs, from great to mediocre, but in all my years I've never seen a better natural hunter than Gus. This dog is the whole package; great nose, hard pointer, very smart, not fooled by runners, hunts close, no fear of the gun, incredible stamina and game to the core. No "off days" with Gus. He is also a completely instinctive, soft mouthed retreiver. He'll find the bird no matter what, bring it back and drop it at your feet, no training whatsoever, this is completely instinctive behavior. An excellent swimmer with no fear of water, but doesn't like to sit still for duck blind work. Gus has a very even temperment. He's intense and high strung (typical for Weimaraners) but without a touch of meanness. He works well with other dogs and handles well. House training came easy for Gus and he makes a wonderful pet although he's a bit rambunctious around small children. I don't compete, I hunt, but Gus is from a long line of champions in the field and on the bench. Here's his Pedigree. A lot of good breeds have been ruined by the show circuit and unfortunately the Weimaraner is a breed that's fast going the way of Collies, Irish Setters and other breeds which have been bred into beautiful worthlessness. If you're looking for a Weimaraner sire that comes from a long line of proven performers and who hunts like a demon himself, I don't believe you can find a better stud than Gus at any price.
